We Are Learning To...
Our reading workshop is up and running! Student reading levels have started to soar! Be sure to read with your child each day. Students are learning to build their reading stamina during "Read to Self" and we are learning about reading with a partner during "Read to Someone". Using Kids A-Z, Tumblebooks and BookFlix, students are listening to reading and developing their reading skills. Students have been working on their printing and practising their words of the week using wiki sticks and rainbow words. Students are doing different drawing, colouring and art activities to develop their fine motor skills. During Readers' Theatre students are reading poems and plays as part of a drama activity. You will be able to catch a glimpse of these in your child's SeeSaw portfolio.
Our Take Home Reading program is up and running!. Be sure to have your child read each evening at home with an adult. Be sure to have your child return their folder and books every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If you would like your child to exchange these books more frequently, please send them in! This Take Home Reading is an essential part of your child's reading program. The extra practise with you each evening is invaluable, and is one of the keys to your child's reading success that will help them in all subject areas.
